Mild allergy signs include pain, facial swelling, scratching, hives, and vomiting. If you see them, take vitals. If normal, your vet may recommend over the counter allergy medications. If signs don't improve within 30 to 60 minutes after you give Benadryl, take your pet into the vet. If your pet is suffering from anaphylaxis, however, they'll have light pink gums, a fast pulse, fast breathing rate, and weakness or collapse. Dogs and cats can also develop allergies to long-standing environmental factors, and in such cases conferring with your vet is a must.
