When we think of professional pet sitting, we don’t really think about tools right? I mean a carpenter has a hammer, a plumber a wrench but what do pet sitters have?

Pet Sitter Have Tons of Stuff!

I was cleaning out my car the other day and here are some things that I found and would definitely go as far as to call them tools of the trade:

  • Paper towels
  • Baby wipes
  • Sponge
  • Extra leashes
  • 1st aid kit
  • Poop bags
  • Plastic grocery bags
  • Trash bags
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Key tags
  • Bowls

Those are just the items from my car! You should see what I carry on me when doing jobs. When you’re dealing with people’s homes AND their pets, you need lots of things.

Things a Dog Walker Will Carry

My company provides mostly dog walking services so we have to have things readily available. Keys, phone and poop bags are the BARE essentials one must have on them but an extra leash, treats and a mini first aid kit are high on the list.

What we carry these items in has become its own separate industry. From doog walking belts to dog walking jackets companies are figuring out that there are a lot of us and we need to carry a lot of stuff.

So next time you see a dog walker casually strolling down the street with their charges, remind yourself that while they are out on a walk, they’re hauling equipment and getting a much needed job done.
